I light this candle in honor of the men and women who have fallen in this war. You are the heroes that will always be a symbol of American courage. Your footsteps on this earth may have been shortened but now they are imprinted in the minds and hearts of all of us forever. Your footsteps are as one with our Lord who has carried you to heaven and the angels sing your names. May we always remember the fallen as we walk the path of freedom for they are the ones who shed their blood so that we continue to be the land of the free and the home of the brave ~ You may not know me by name as I am the soldier on the last slide in the slide show, I am your husband or wife, your son or daughter. As I sit in a far away country wondering where and how you are, I look at the yellow ribbon around my tree and know that you will soon be home to take it down. I wish for your safe return to me and our babies and that this war will soon end and you and many others will have made a difference in a land that only knows violence and hate. When I awoke this morning, I thanked God for the sounds outside my window. Birds singing, back-up beeps from construction equipment..just building a sidewalk. Cars peacefully passing, children laughing as they waited for the school bus. I cannot imagine what it would be like to have to lay my head over the face of my child every day, in order to be thier human shield ...from bullets of evil, aggression and opression ..in a country that is
literally held hostage by thier own government. Thank you, God, for planting my family's feet on free, American soil. Thank you, American soldiers, and your families, for loving your neighbor as yourself. 'Greater love hath no man, than to lay down his life for a friend'.
